Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Made for anyone who likes life-or-death stakes every episode and anyone who likes a story with a soundtrack worth keeping. Life-and-death stakes, often at a run. If you loved Traffic or Bad Lieutenant, start here. More of a critics' pick than a crowd-pleaser: worth it if you like something a little different.
The mood
Dark and gritty.
The pace
Gives its people room to develop, at 2 hr 28 min.
What might put you off
  • Rated R: expect drug use.
  • It's in Hindi, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Audiences were cooler on it than critics.
  • Skip it if you like your heroes clean-cut.

Drug abuse and the darker side of Punjab rear their heads in the intense, interwoven tales of a policeman, a doctor, a migrant worker, and a rockstar.
