Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Aimed squarely at fans of a good revenge story and people who like the lights on afterwards. A revenge story, so expect the pressure to build to a reckoning. Sits nicely alongside Evil Dead Burn or A Nightmare on Elm Street. The scares come from the creaks and shadows as much as the jumps.
The mood
Scary.
The pace
Builds dread steadily, at 1 hr 30 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off
  • It's in Cantonese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you scare easily or watch alone at night.

After the wife of a taxi driver is raped and killed by two teenage hooligans, he pleads with a sorcerer to lift the hex and exact revenge.
