Weeknight Watchearly rating

Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Best for anyone who's survived a family wedding and fans of a well-timed joke. Relationships are put under a microscope, for better or worse. Paris does a lot of the work, and it looks wonderful.
The mood
Funny with heart.
The pace
Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 1 hr 45 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in French, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Not the pick if you want something heavy or meaningful.

To be closer to his children following his divorce, Laurent Monier, a history and geography teacher in a peaceful provincial high school, accepts a position in a sensitive college in the Paris suburbs. He is assigned the hardest class, the fourth techno, and he finds an apartment in the Cité des Muriers, a particularly difficult district.
