Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: A natural pick for people who like stories about real, flawed people. Leaves you with something to think about. Sits nicely alongside Traffic.
The mood: Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace: Takes its time with its characters, at 1 hr 37 min.
What might put you off: Rated R: expect drug use.
Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

Rusty has been bailed out of bad situations more than once by his understanding but distraught mother, Mary. When Mary starts dating a psychologist, Bob, Rusty connects with the man and begins talking to him about his problems. As Rusty benefits from the therapy sessions, his best friend, Dallas, still very involved in illegal and dangerous activities, takes issue with Rusty going straight and cleaning up his life.
