Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office loss, almost no lasting buzz and a lukewarm 5.9 out of 10 from audiences, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it

The mood
Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace
Takes its time with its characters, at 1 hr 57 min.
What might put you off
It's in French, so expect subtitles (or a dub).

Pauline, a devoted and generous home help nurse, raises her two children alone, while also looking after her father, a former steelworker. Taking advantage of her popularity, the directors of an extremist political party suggest she become their candidate at the mayoral elections.
