Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Great for fans of a good con and anyone drawn to the darker side of the street. Half the pleasure is trying to spot the trick before the reveal. Fans of The Asphalt Jungle or The Night of the Hunter should feel right at home.
The mood
Tense, dark and gritty.
The pace
Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 1 hr 12 min. Done before bedtime.
What might put you off
  • Made in 1947: an older pace and style.
  • Not ideal if you just want to unwind.

A beautician and her crooked boyfriend attempt to rob the bookie operation located in the back room, but when the plan goes wrong, they frame an innocent man.
