Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office loss and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Right up the alley of fans of small-town stories and anyone who loves backroom deals and speeches. A place where gossip travels faster than the plot. If you loved Insomnia or In the Heat of the Night, start here. Power and ambition drive every scene.
The mood
Tense.
The pace
Lets scenes breathe, at 1 hr 52 min.
What might put you off
Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

When small town drifter Sammy Barlach drives into Venus Holler in search for his next cold beer and the bunch that'll have him, he gets a lot more than he bargained for, namely food, lodging and the possibility of a better future, thanks to crimson-haired Jamalee and her brother Jason, who dream of hitting the big time. Breaks aren't easy to come by, though, if you live in Venus Holler. Powerless against the forces of corruption and prejudice, the hardest things Sammy has to battle are the demons inside his own head.
