Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

It made about 11 times its budget, but middling reviews (56% on Rotten Tomatoes) and a lukewarm 6.0 out of 10 from audiences held it back. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Made for anyone who likes to be kept guessing, horror fans and action fans. If you loved 28 Years Later or 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, start here.
The mood: Scary.
The pace: Fast-moving, at 1 hr 37 min.
What might put you off: Rated R: expect violence.

To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community. But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the others, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.
