Monday Morning Maybeearly ratingWhy it’s a Monday Morning Maybe
With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- A natural pick for people who love a good growing-up story and anyone with a best friend they'd call at 3am. It gets the awkwardness and the high stakes of being young. The friendships are the beating heart of it.
- The mood
- Thoughtful and character-driven.
- The pace
- Character-first and patient, at 45 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
- What might put you off
- It's in Japanese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
- Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.
Nakamura Aoi stars as a young aspiring manga artist who's able to deal with loneliness and separation from his family through the companionship of an American Shorthair cat named Gin-o-gou.
