Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Best for history and war-film fans and the curious. It puts you in the middle of the fighting, and doesn't let you forget the cost. Sits nicely alongside They Shall Not Grow Old or Virunga.
The mood
Intense, eye-opening.
The pace
Well paced for a documentary, at 1 hr 28 min. Done before bedtime.
What might put you off
Skip it if you want made-up drama tonight.

In the darkest days of World War II, St. Peter's was shrouded in the shadow of the swastika. But even as the Führer surrounded him, the Pope was plotting a secret counter-offensive. Wartime Pontiff Pius XII has been derided for his public silence about the Holocaust. But evidence suggests his silence may have been subterfuge.
