Who'll love it
Best for sci-fi fans and people who still love a bit of magic. Popcorn viewing in the best sense. Sits nicely alongside Mad Max: Fury Road or Resident Evil.
The mood
Exciting.
The pace
Fast-moving, at 1 hr 27 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off
  • Rated PG-13: scary moments. Probably too much for younger kids.
  • Not for anyone who finds explosions tiring.

When an accident leaves a group of researchers trapped beneath the earth's crust, it's up to a drill team, led by Joseph Harnet, to rescue them. But once underground, the team discovers a mysterious -- and horrifying -- subterranean universe.
