Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
One for anyone with a best friend they'd call at 3am and lovers of period drama. The friendships are the beating heart of it. Liked Lady Bird or Blindspotting? This is a good next one. The costumes and settings are a feast on their own.
The mood
Funny with heart.
The pace
Character-first and patient, at 1 hr 24 min. Done before bedtime.
What might put you off
  • It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1970: an older pace and style.
  • Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

Paunvere parish school students Arno and Teele, Toots and Kiir, Tõnisson and Imelik experience feelings during one school winter, the traces of which they carry throughout their future lives - from true friendship and first love to self-discovery and clarifying life goals.
