Why it’s a Weeknight Watch
With almost no lasting buzz and middling reviews (50% on Rotten Tomatoes), it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- A natural pick for anyone who remembers how big everything felt at sixteen and people who love a story where everyone knows everyone. Small moments carry real weight here, the way they do when you're young. Fans of Spectral should feel right at home. The small-town setting is half the character.
- The mood
- Tense.
- The pace
- Moves at a clip, at 1 hr 31 min.
- What might put you off
- Rated PG-13. Probably too much for younger kids.
- Skip it if you want something to relax to.
High school senior Alex has an encounter with mysterious lights that appear over her small town. She soon develops dangerous, supernatural abilities, and turns to her childhood friend Sean.
