Why it’s a Sunday Safe Bet

It was a box office smash, though it had almost no lasting buzz. A safe bet when you want something reliable.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Who'll love it: Great for anyone who values honest, human stories and anyone who loves a strong drama. It deals with hard things honestly.
The mood: Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace: Gives its people room to develop, at 1 hr. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off: It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
Made in 1920: an older pace and style.
Skip it if you need something light and fast tonight.

Facing bankruptcy after losing a card game, U Bo Shwe and his daughter Khin May must defend themselves against the former's creditor, Maung Tin.
