Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe
With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- Right up the alley of people who'll be humming afterwards and people who like stories about real, flawed people. The music is woven into the story, not just laid on top.
- The mood
- Thoughtful and character-driven.
- The pace
- Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 13 min. Done before bedtime.
- What might put you off
- It's in Spanish, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
- Made in 1908: an older pace and style.
- Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.
A small village in Aragón, Spain, at the end of the 19th century. After being caught by her father fooling around with Melchor, an unscrupulous womanizer, being disgraced and losing everything, young Dolores is forced to take to the roads in search of work.
