Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Great for anyone interested in what war does to people and war-film fans. It puts you in the middle of the fighting, and doesn't let you forget the cost. Shelve it next to Patton or From Here to Eternity.
The mood
Intense.
The pace
Takes its time with its characters, at 1 hr 34 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1979: an older pace and style.
  • Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

Despite the ongoing WW2, most of the people were just minding their own business. But everything changes when police arrests the group of youths under suspicion of being resistance sympathizers. Outraged townsfolk organize the siege of police station.
