Weeknight Watchearly ratingWhy it’s a Weeknight Watch
With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- Aimed squarely at people who love a good growing-up story and anyone who wants something that moves them. It gets the awkwardness and the high stakes of being young. It's about loss, handled with care rather than melodrama.
- The mood
- Emotional (bring tissues).
- The pace
- Gives its people room to develop, at 1 hr 30 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
- What might put you off
- Rated PG-13: a parent's death or loss. Probably too much for younger kids.
- Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.
An eleven year-old girl's unconventional yet deeply loving relationship with her mother is harshly broken. Along her journey, including her quest to discover her father, she learns how to embrace every moment with determination and unrelenting self-confidence.
