Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Tailor-made for anyone who likes secrets inside secrets and sports fans (and people who swear they aren't). Nobody is quite who they seem. Liked Night and Fog or O.J.: Made in America? This is a good next one. The sport matters, but the people playing it matter more.
The mood
Eye-opening.
The pace
Moves through the story clearly, at 1 hr 25 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off
  • It's in French, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you want made-up drama tonight.

Summer 1936 - The Berlin Olympics, organized by the Nazi regime on the eve of World War II, acted as a grand showcase for a Germany that was athletic, peaceful and rejuvenated. The violence and hate that until then had reigned in the streets of Berlin suddenly vanished. Adolf Hitler became the triumphant host of European countries he would soon try to invade or face in a deadly global conflict.
