Monday Morning Maybeearly ratingWhy it’s a Monday Morning Maybe
With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- Great for anime fans and fans of swords, quests and kingdoms. It's anime, with all the big emotions and big action that comes with it. Liked The Jungle Book or The Cat Returns? This is a good next one. A proper quest, with a world big enough to get lost in.
- The mood
- Feel-good.
- The pace
- Bright and bouncy, at 1 hr 15 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
- What might put you off
- No age rating on record, so check it first for young kids.
- It's in Japanese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
- Made in 1979: an older pace and style.
- Skip it if you can't get past animation (your loss).
A ceramic figure of a blue mouse with long ears, stubby legs, and no tail suddenly comes to life. He is a “Manxmouse” as known in the legend. Since he is new to this world, his fearless curiosity leads him to meet a frog couple, an aviator hawk, a stray tiger, and a girl. Although he learns about his ultimate fate-to be eaten by a “Manxcat”-he decides to face this cat and challenge his destiny.
