Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
A natural pick for people who like their sci-fi with a brain-teaser in it and anyone who's looked up and wondered. Expect to replay a few scenes in your head afterwards. Sits nicely alongside Interstellar or Star Trek. Much of it plays out in space, so the scale is part of the thrill.
The mood
Mind-bending.
The pace
Character-first and patient, at 1 hr 22 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off
  • Rated PG. Worth a look first if you have very young kids.
  • Made in 1964: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you like your stories firmly grounded in the real world.

Research scientists experimenting with time warps are accidentally propelled forward into an unbearable future.
