Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With soft box office and little lasting buzz, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Tailor-made for people who love a story where everyone knows everyone and people who enjoy a knot in their stomach. The small-town setting is half the character. Shelve it next to Invasion of the Body Snatchers or The Trouble with Harry.
The mood
Scary.
The pace
Builds dread steadily, at 1 hr 15 min. Done before bedtime.
What might put you off
  • Made in 1972: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you scare easily or watch alone at night.

After several locals are viciously murdered, a Louisiana sheriff starts to suspect he may be dealing with a werewolf.
