Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Best for anyone after some adrenaline and people who like stories about real, flawed people. One to watch when you can give it your full attention. Liked Beast? This is a good next one.
The mood
Exciting.
The pace
Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 2 hr 28 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

Orphan Hernan becomes a ward of a fencing master and learns to be a skilful sword fighter. He crosses swords with the ruthless, Ignacio de la Vega who will stop at nothing until he has acquired the title "maestro".
