Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Aimed squarely at anyone who loves a will-they-won't-they and anyone in the mood for a love story. The chemistry carries it. Sits nicely alongside Brooklyn or All the Way.
The mood
Warm and romantic.
The pace
Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 1 hr 41 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in Italian, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

Italy, 1968. Aspiring actor Nicola enrolls in the police to pay for his studies, ending up undercover among college students protesting the government, the Vietnam War and the values of their parents' generation.
