Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Right up the alley of anyone who appreciates a well-choreographed fight and fans of cool, efficient anti-heroes. The fight choreography is a big part of the appeal. Same wavelength as Kung Fu Hustle. Lean and efficient, like its main character.
The mood
Funny with heart.
The pace
Gives its people room to develop, at 1 hr 43 min.
What might put you off
  • Rated R: meant for adults.
  • It's in Cantonese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1979: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you prefer quiet, talky stories.

A prince enlists a thief to serve as his bodyguard to protect him from assassins.
