Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Right up the alley of fans of a good con and anyone nostalgic for their awkward years. Half the pleasure is trying to spot the trick before the reveal. If you loved Thelma & Louise or American Honey, start here. It gets the awkwardness and the high stakes of being young.
The mood
Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace
Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 1 hr 32 min.
What might put you off
Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

A New Jersey college student running away from home finds himself travelling through the back roads of Texas with a con man who's just escaped from prison.
