Weeknight Watchearly rating

Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With a box office flop, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: If you count yourself among anyone who loves an underdog and action fans, this one's for you. The sport matters, but the people playing it matter more. Sits nicely alongside Beast.
The mood: Feel-good.
The pace: Epic and sweeping, at 2 hr 57 min.
What might put you off: No age rating on record, so check it first for young kids.
It's long: 2 hr 57 min.
It's in Tamil, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

A do-gooder don wants his footballer son to uplift the life of his people by becoming a champion, but fate draws the youngster into a life of violence. Will he be able to fulfill his father’s dream when an opportunity comes his way seven years later?
