Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With almost no lasting buzz, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Right up the alley of anyone who loves backroom deals and speeches and fans of a well-timed joke. Power and ambition drive every scene. A good follow-up to We All Loved Each Other So Much or Welcome to the Dollhouse.
The mood
Provocative satire that goes after everyone.
The pace
Lets scenes breathe, at 1 hr 46 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in Italian, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Not the pick if you want something heavy or meaningful.

Like every August, journalist Sandro, his family and acquaintances vacation on the island of Ventotene. This time, however, they find out the house next door has been rented to a lower middle class family, whose crass nature and values soon clash with their own intellectual and progressive background.
