Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Best for anyone drawn to the darker side of the street and anyone who likes to be kept guessing. Best on a quiet night when you're in the mood to feel something.
The mood
Tense, dark and gritty.
The pace
Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 2 hr 17 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in another language, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you need something light and fast tonight.

Shehata is the son of a modest gardener who saved all his money to open a fruit stand and named it after his favorite son. Shehata's siblings get so jealous of their brother and plot against him. A representation of the downfall of society and its decaying morals.
