Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Aimed squarely at people who love a good growing-up story and sports fans (and people who swear they aren't). It gets the awkwardness and the high stakes of being young. Fans of Lucas or Love, Simon should feel right at home. The sport matters, but the people playing it matter more.
The mood
Funny with heart, romantic.
The pace
Lets scenes breathe, at 1 hr 15 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off
  • It's in Norwegian, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Not the pick if you want something heavy or meaningful.

Lucas, a teenage boy, moves to a small town in Norway from Stockholm, Sweden. He falls for Susanne, who is on the girl's football team and is dating the captain of the boy's football team. To get Susanne to like him he joins the boy's team so that he can travel to Oslo to participate in the Norway Cup, a large football tournament.
