Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
A natural pick for fans of a good haunting and lovers of period drama. The scares come from the creaks and shadows as much as the jumps. Same wavelength as The Witch. The costumes and settings are a feast on their own.
The mood
Scary.
The pace
Keeps the tension tight, at 1 hr 29 min. An easy one to fit in on a school night.
What might put you off
Not ideal if you just want to unwind.

In a mid-19th century Essex country house, a young governess for two children becomes convinced that the house and grounds are haunted by ghosts and that the children are being possessed.
