Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Made for anyone who remembers how big everything felt at sixteen and people who like their stories with a little heart-flutter. Small moments carry real weight here, the way they do when you're young.
The mood
Warm and romantic.
The pace
Gives its people room to develop, at 1 hr 42 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in Russian, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1961: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if romance makes you roll your eyes.

High school students Ksenya and Boris are in love but all the world is against them.
