Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With almost no lasting buzz and soft box office, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
A natural pick for people who love a good growing-up story and people who like stories about real, flawed people. It gets the awkwardness and the high stakes of being young.
The mood
Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace
Takes its time with its characters, at 15 min. Done before bedtime.
What might put you off
  • It's in Portuguese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

Brazil, the first week of 2019. A new president takes office in a scenario of fanaticism, prejudice, and violence. Locked in a hotel room, two teenagers decide to change the course of their lives, before it’s too late.
