Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Made for anyone who wants something that moves them and anyone who likes a story with emotional weight. It's about loss, handled with care rather than melodrama.
The mood
Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace
Gives its people room to develop, at 1 hr 30 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off
  • It's in German, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Not the one if you want explosions or easy laughs.

Gerrit Frings is facing ruin at the age of 34. After the end of his company and the suicide of his partner Markus, he is also sued by his widow Sandra. Allegedly, Gerrit owes Markus a lot of money. In reality, however, it was the other way around and his self-denial of his own situation was ultimately the reason for Markus' suicide. Gerrit's wife Claudia supports him in this difficult situation. But Gerrit falls in love with Sandra, of all people.
