Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
A natural pick for anyone drawn to the darker side of the street and people who enjoy a knot in their stomach. Expect bad people, worse choices and a few surprises. Liked Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair or The Tenant? This is a good next one.
The mood
Scary, dark and gritty.
The pace
Tense from early on, at 1 hr 22 min. Done before bedtime.
What might put you off
  • It's in German, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Made in 1977: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you like your heroes clean-cut.

Susan arrives in Haiti to live with her husband Jack, who lives with a lesbian housekeeper and Olga, a nymphomaniac platinum blonde, introduced to her as Jack's sister. Susan begins to have nightmares about voodoo ceremonies and murder.
