Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Best for anyone who likes corsets, castles and court intrigue and people who'll be looking things up afterwards. The costumes and settings are a feast on their own. Sits nicely alongside Into the Wild or The Great Escape. Based on real events, so expect to go down a research rabbit hole afterwards.
The mood
Funny with heart.
The pace
Lets scenes breathe, at 2 hr 8 min.
What might put you off
  • It's in Spanish, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you're after something serious tonight.

An army deserter turned bandit robs from thieves to give the money to the poor. He was famous for being caught by the police "with his pants down"
