Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With soft box office, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Aimed squarely at people who enjoy a knot in their stomach and anyone looking to switch off and smile. Keeps you leaning forward. If you loved Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost, start here.
The mood: Scary.
The pace: Builds dread steadily, at 54 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off: Made in 1937: an older pace and style.
Skip it if you want something to relax to.

Comedy-mystery finds Detectives Kelly and Dempsey trapped in a deserted lighthouse with a group of strangers who are being terrorized by a killer octopus AND a mysterious crime figure named after the title sea creature.
