Why it’s a Weeknight Watch
With soft box office and little lasting buzz, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?

- Best for history and war-film fans and anyone who likes corsets, castles and court intrigue. It puts you in the middle of the fighting, and doesn't let you forget the cost. Shelve it next to 1917 or The Guns of Navarone. The costumes and settings are a feast on their own.
- The mood
- Intense.
- The pace
- Moves along nicely, at 1 hr 42 min.
- What might put you off
- Nothing much for most grown-ups.
Spain, 1813. Sharpe is unwittingly caught up in a French plot; he is convicted of the murder of a Spanish nobleman and sentenced to death. This time he will need more than just his legendary courage to survive. In a desperate attempt to clear his name, Sharpe is forced to venture deep into enemy territory to capture La Marquesa, a beautiful French spy, who alone can prove his innocence.
