Weeknight Watchearly rating

Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With little lasting buzz, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: If you count yourself among anyone who likes to solve it before the characters do and anyone interested in what war does to people, this one's for you. It plays fair with the clues, so you can play along. A good follow-up to Longlegs. It puts you in the middle of the fighting, and doesn't let you forget the cost.
The mood: Scary.
The pace: Keeps the tension tight, at 2 hr 26 min.
What might put you off: It's in Japanese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
Made in 1976: an older pace and style.
Not one for anyone who hates jump scares.

When a tycoon passes away, he unexpectedly leaves the family fortune to outsider Tamayo on the condition that she marries one of the grandsons, pitting blood against blood.
