Why it’s a Monday Morning Maybe

With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Made for spy-story fans and politics junkies. Nobody is quite who they seem. Liked 8 Women? This is a good next one. Power and ambition drive every scene.
The mood
Light and funny.
The pace
Light on its feet, at 1 hr 29 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off
  • It's in French, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
  • Skip it if you're after something serious tonight.

Igor, who manages a fancy hotel and is on the take, has to juggle several problems at once. He has a two-hour window to get his ill-got gain out of the hotel, he must misdirect and obstruct the inquiries of a Party auditor who suspects that all is not above board, and he must keep out of sight and out of trouble his interloping and troublesome young brother-in-law, who arrives unannounced with barrels of rotten herring.
