With a box office flop and almost no lasting buzz, this one could be a tough watch. Keep your phone handy.
Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below. Is it for you?
- Who'll love it
- If you count yourself among people who love a good growing-up story and anime fans, this one's for you. It gets the awkwardness and the high stakes of being young. Made in the anime tradition: bold, emotional and willing to go dark.
- The mood
- Light and funny, feel-good.
- The pace
- Bright and bouncy, at 6 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
- What might put you off
- No age rating on record, so check it first for young kids.
- It's in Japanese, so expect subtitles (or a dub).
- Skip it if you can't get past animation (your loss).
In this short movie featuring familiar characters from Azumanga Daioh, Osaka is yet again having a strange dream of Chiyo-Chan's pigtails being posessed. As Chiyo-Chan's pigtails bounce out of the window, who knows if young Chiyo will ever be happy again.
