Weeknight Watchearly rating

Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With almost no lasting buzz, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Right up the alley of fans of a good revenge story and crime fans. A revenge story, so expect the pressure to build to a reckoning. Fans of Klute should feel right at home.
The mood
Dark and gritty.
The pace
Quiet, then quietly devastating, at 1 hr 30 min. Short enough for a weeknight.
What might put you off
  • Rated R: expect violence and drug use.
  • Made in 1971: an older pace and style.
  • Skip it if you need something light and fast tonight.

The police suspect that a drug and forced-prostitution ring is behind the recent spate of kidnappings and disappearances, but so far they've been unable to infiltrate the suspects gang. To break the case, they recruit Ginger, a young woman from an upper-class family to act as bait for the kidnappers and hopefully lead the police to their hideout. It may sound like a foolproof plan to the police, but Ginger's the one who has to risk it all.
