Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

It's still drawing plenty of interest, but rough reviews and a lukewarm 7.1 out of 10 from audiences held it back. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Made for anyone who wants a laugh. Audiences love it more than critics do: a crowd-pleaser first.
The mood: Light and funny.
The pace: 7 seasons, but most episodes stand on their own, so you can dip in anywhere (about 21 minutes each).
What might put you off: It was cancelled, so the story may not get a proper ending.

Rules of Engagement is a comedy about the different phases of male/female relationships, as seen through the eyes of a newly engaged couple, Adam and Jennifer, a long-time married pair, Jeff and Audrey, and a single guy on the prowl, Russell. As they find out, the often confusing stages of a relationship can seem like being on a roller coaster. People can describe the ride to you, but to really know what it's like you have to experience it for yourself.
