Why it’s a Weeknight Watch

With a lukewarm 6.8 out of 10 from audiences and a short run with a modest audience, it's a mixed bag. Fine if it's on; don't plan your night around it.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Made for sci-fi fans. If you loved Falling Skies or Alien: Earth, start here.
The mood: Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace: 3 seasons: a few weeks of evenings, episodes of about 43 minutes, about 27 hours in all.
What might put you off: Rated TV-14. Probably too much for younger kids.
It was cancelled, so the story may not get a proper ending.

In the near future, planet Earth is permanently altered following the sudden—and tumultuous—arrival of seven unique alien races. In the boom-town of Defiance, the newly-formed civilization of humans and aliens must learn to co-exist peacefully.
