Is it for you?

Who'll love it
Made for sci-fi fans. If you loved Game of Thrones or Shadow and Bone, start here. Critics rate it higher than audiences do, so it rewards patience more than it chases thrills.
The mood
Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace
One season: easy to finish in a weekend or two, hour-long episodes, about 7 hours in all.
What might put you off

  • Audiences were cooler on it than critics.

With magic long since lost to England, two men are destined to bring it back; the reclusive Mr. Norrell and daring novice Jonathan Strange. So begins a dangerous battle between two great minds.
