Sunday Safe Bet

Why it’s a Sunday Safe Bet

It earned strong reviews (84% on Rotten Tomatoes), though it had a lukewarm 6.9 out of 10 from audiences and a short run with a modest audience. A safe bet when you want something reliable.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Made for sci-fi fans. If you loved The Man in the High Castle or The Handmaid's Tale, start here. Critics rate it higher than audiences do, so it rewards patience more than it chases thrills.
The mood: Mind-bending.
The pace: 3 seasons: a few weeks of evenings, episodes of about 43 minutes, about 26 hours in all.
What might put you off: It was cancelled, so the story may not get a proper ending.
Audiences were cooler on it than critics.

In the near future a family must make difficult decisions as they balance staying together with trying to survive. They live in Los Angeles, which has been occupied by a force of outside intruders. While some people have chosen to collaborate with the authorities and benefit from the new order, others have rebelled — and suffer the consequences.
