Sunday Safe Bet

Why it’s a Sunday Safe Bet

It earned strong reviews (85% on Rotten Tomatoes), though it had a short run with a modest audience. A safe bet when you want something reliable.

Based on critics, audiences, awards, box office and buzz. Details below.

Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Made for anyone who wants a laugh and animation lovers. If you loved Family Guy or It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, start here. Critics rate it higher than audiences do, so it rewards patience more than it chases thrills.
The mood: Darkly funny.
The pace: 5 seasons, but most episodes stand on their own, so you can dip in anywhere (about 26 minutes each).
What might put you off: Rated TV-MA: meant for adults.
Audiences were cooler on it than critics.

Follow the Murphy family back to the 1970s, when kids roamed wild, beer flowed freely and nothing came between a man and his TV.
