Is it for you?

Who'll love it: Made for sci-fi fans. If you loved The Vampire Diaries or The Originals, start here. Audiences love it more than critics do: a crowd-pleaser first.
The mood: Thoughtful and character-driven.
The pace: 4 seasons: a few months of evenings, episodes of about 43 minutes, about 49 hours in all.
What might put you off: It was cancelled, so the story may not get a proper ending.

In a place where young witches, vampires, and werewolves are nurtured to be their best selves in spite of their worst impulses, Klaus Mikaelson’s daughter, 17-year-old Hope Mikaelson, Alaric Saltzman’s twins, Lizzie and Josie Saltzman, among others, come of age into heroes and villains at The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted.
